Actually I picked up a new 40GB model on ebay last week - but unfortunately all I've done with it is downlaoded one CF card so far. It seems to work flawlessly, but I've got so little experience. So far - I'm glad I bought it - saves from taking a laptop on trips.
In case you haven't seen reviews of them:

I use a 20gb tripper portable storage system. I can't view pictures on it unfortunatly, however I couldn't live without it. CF cards are too damned expensive. |

I looked at the Flashtrax, but rejected it on battery life. I need something that's gonna last me all day, and be able to transfer around 750-1000 frames off a microdrive. More batteries made the whole package more expensive.
I've since spoken to another photographer using one at the track and he'd managed to get spare batteries for half the price of the official batteries, which is an improvement.
I plumped for the Archos Gmini - I don't have time to look at my shots while I'm shooting, so the lack of colour screen/raw viewing doesn't bother me. It also plays mp3s. The only downside is that the battery is sealed inside so one day it's going to lose its portability!

Is there anything similar for SmartMedia? The biggest card I can buy is 128mb. I don't need the screen, just a couple of gigs storage for when I'm away from the PC. |
