Are you using a card reader or plugging your camera into your computer?

i think a valid question is why do your images keep getting singled out? is there actually a dq policeman?
(ETA: i ask because in 80 something challenges i've only had 2 requests for validation...coming nowhere near the top ten helps in that sure, but still)

The way I do it (if not shooting RAW), is to right click on start and select explore. So I'm just going into the windows file system. Open up the camera's folder, and drag the file into the desired folder on my computer. I then drag another copy into an editing folder, so I don't work on the original.
If it's still on your camera, and if you just dragged over that copy, perhaps they didn't get the second file. I'd send in a ticket and ask them.
If you worked on the file directly on the camera, it may be possible that Photoshop changed the original on the card. I could very well be wrong, though.

I don't want to seem insensitive ... but you've been around DPC for 4 years. You've submitted to more than 100 challenges. Your portfolio has some amazing photos. You're not a noob.
But after 4 year you'd think you'd just get it right rather than play the victim card, or playing the conspiracy card. This isn't hard.
Use Windows explorer or Finder on a Mac to make a copy of the image on the card, save it to an originals folder on your computer. Make a second copy to work on in Photoshop or whatever. When asked for validation, upload the untouched file from your originals folder. And Bob's your Uncle. It's not that hard. |

it should not be already dq'd if you are still providing additional files |

It's not too late. There have definitely been cases where people have found the correct original and been reinstated. Just get it to them as soon as possible.

I assume so, but even if it has, has that many votes really gone by? Seriously, I think I've received 3 votes today in leading lines. That's about it. I can't see it making a huge difference.

I just took a look, and neither of the two files I see listed is an "original straight from the camera," but each has clearly been modified by other software, changing the name at least, if not actually affecting any pixels. Following is the pertinent EXIF data from the second file you uploaded, after being informed that the first was not a valid original, with the parts most clearly problematic highlighted:
================================================================
Original filename: [DELETED].jpg
Modify Date: 2011:02:11 20:23:17
Create Date: 2011:02:11 20:20:31+02:00
Date/Time Original:
Camera Model Name:
Aperture:
ISO:
Shutter Speed:
Lens:
Focal Length:
Software: Adobe Photoshop CS2 Windows
Byline:
Creator Tool: Adobe Photoshop CS2 Windows

Look through his portfolio. I think it's relatively easy for somebody to wonder how it was done with a single image, etc. Great stuff. |

Bit rough, don't you think? I don't see any concern on Jan's part regarding conspiracy, or playing the victim card. He's not the first experienced DPCer to get DQ'd and ask for help in clarification. |
