I was actually looking for photo contests one day, and this particular site came up. I registered and I bookmarked it, didn't really look at it, but then about 3 months later I found the bookmark, looked and said, hmmm that looks interesting. So here I am. I have recommended this site to so many of my photo cronies that I bump into, but am not sure they have signed up. Lots of interest with everybody from work, to my family, to my daughters friends. |

I was looking for pictures of the Salt Lake Temple and pulled up one in dwterry's portfolio. I started looking around the site and was convinced by the opportunity to sell prints. About 2 weeks later, I tried a challenge, thinking I was pretty hot stuff.
I got hooked with the honesty of the voting and comments, then the people and never did get to posting any prints for sale.

I woke up,...
... got fired, crashed my car, finally got home, saw my camera. Found some whiskey. Got drunk. Found my bathroom. Got sick. Stumbled into my office. Got a phone call. Got a new job. Found some beer. Got drunk somemore. Passed out on my computer keyboard.
I woke up with a huge hangover and the impression of a keyboard on my face, and there was DPC challenge, and my camera stareing at me.
My spirit guide found it for me.

I was making grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch one day and when I flipped mine over, there was a message in the bread "DPChallenge.com".
I was hungry, so I wrote down the URL and ate the sandwich. The rest, as they say, is history. |

While googling for information on macro lenses, I found shutterblade.net, which is Tom_Robbrecht's website. I liked his pictures, and saw that he'd just won a couple of ribbons at some place I'd never heard of called dpchallenge.com, so I checked it out. |

After buying my first digital camera, a nice little point 'n shoot Canon S50 in September '03, I found RAW Canon (now defunct) on the web. But I was still a film SLR camera user. Then, someone mentioned DPC in the RAW Canon forums. I checked it out, I joined that day, and yes, the rest is history. |

If I remember correctly, it was rated as Top 100 sites by PC Mag or something like that. I am always a sucker for "Best of" lists. Eventually picked up a camera and remembered the site....

I used to regularly read a msn blog of someone who is aka xianart. Well, one day she mentioned having found this place, so I checked it out. I'll never forgive her ;)
Worst thing is, once she came here she quit blogging, so now I have to spend that time here that I used to spend reading her stuffs! |

My ISP sends out a Best Of the Web newsletter & in it are sites that other customers reccommend. dpchallenge was one of those. So back around June/July '04, I discovered dpc & my addiction has grown ever since.
