What are people's opinions of Nik software? I watched a bunch of their videos from their website last night and it looks like cool stuff. I currently have PS CS4 and nothing else. I use Topaz stuff from time time via their free trials but have nothing for HDR. I found a Nik software bundle for a pretty good price, it's the Academic version which I'm sure means it's for students(not a problem my wife is in college). Does anyone know if that version is really stripped down or is it close to the full version of their stuff?

Thanks for any info.

For the most part, most software I'm familiar with that is sold as a "Student" edition is full version, just at a discounted price.

A quick email to Nik would answer that for you.

Nik's student version is full-featured, but reduced price. It comes with legalese where you promise not to use it for commercial purposes.

I think the academic version comes with about 30% off - they do require a good degree of proof though.

In answer to your first question - I find the Nik software amazingly effective and easy to use. Couldn't imagine being without it.

Ditto - although my favourite is Silver Efex Pro.
