Two more images taken at the same location and on the same day as my entry in the Free Challenge. Kinderdijk in the Netherlands.

Changed my mind about my FS entry at the last minute. My eventual entry did very badly, with an average of 5.1. Would my initial choice have done any better? I'd appreciate any feedback.

I gave your entry a 6, probably would have given your outtake a 5.

Hi Qiki,

I gave your entry a 6... and would have probably given your alternate a 6 as well. I like both images. They are very different, so it is hard to tell about the votes.

Well done on your entry tho.

Thank you for the comments :)
I was worried about the lack of DOF in my outtake!

Sure thing. Not a shadow of doubt. The birds are nice but not really special (unless cooked! Oh, sorry for the bad pun)
To my taste, the Radcliffe was a touch too processed (too much dodge and burn on the buildings?) but it's a beautiful shot and I keep looking at it after the challenge

Entry simple and easy processing, I thought it would do a little better.
Candidate , I wasn't satisfied with it, but then I posted it on the photo-a-week SC and got some great comments and suggestions.

I feel my outtake may have scored higher but I REALLY liked my entry. The score finished about where I thought it would but I was a little disappointed it didn't connect more with people. However, I have been rather slack with my commenting lately and I'm sure others are busy with life too so I should be satisfied with the fact that I liked it and had the opportunity to share. Enough rambling - back to work.

I liked your entry, too. I gave it a 7. The outtake is nice, but rather dull. I think you made the right choice! :)

My preference would have been by far the picture with the single bird. It's totally spectacular in its economy of means and composition. The entry one looked washed out and although the capture is so amazing, the lack of color definition diminished its effect for me. I would prominently attach the #6515 to your portfolio.

You definitely made the right choice. The birds are nice but would not have held a lot of interest for me unlike your entry. I gave you an 8 as I really liked the perspective and overall effect. Some of the little things in this image both impressed me but were also a little annoying. The minor nuance was the overpowering red of the car taillights (on my monitor anyway). But the bicycle at the very front and the couple walking away on the right added so much more to the image for me. As you can see your image grabbed my attention where as the birds would have been a quick vote then a move on to the next entry.

Thanks for your feed back on my entry and thanks also to UrfaTheGreat for your comment. They were much appreciated.
