If your image seems to have a LOT of outliers, if it's hopping all over the place, you can't be that confident :-) |
From that you could potentially determine at what count you need to stop checking from a measure of variance in your votes. That'd be kind of neat, but that sort of data isn't available to us here on dpland. Would be cool to get hands on that!

Anyone who wants to "prove" something? |

Well, you kinda can. If use a "vote tracker" that polls your score often enough, you can (mostly) figure out what your individual votes have been. There is still the prospect of changed votes, which a vote tracker cannot always distinguish. |

While we are on the topic of Data in regards to voting. Has anyone calc'd what the true average vote score is on DP Challenge? It is not 5.5 I would assume. . .
You guys are a bit out of my league ( I am a labor metrics analyst for a small warehousing company), as I am more worried about concrete stuff. . . Have you guys run these figures on generally agreed upon DNMC entries and Impressionistic entries and see if there is any wild variance?
In the end, as opposed to being a mental exercise, I am curious to see how various factors affect mean and avg. scores. (DNMC Issues, Impressionist photos, Black and White, heck, maybe even studio shots vs. landscapes). . .I would wager there would have to be some kind of preference that could be shown through the data.

I've been tracking my score as close to 100 votes as I could get against the final score for most of my challenge entries. It looks like my actual data fits within the margin of error offered by the OP.
