Lots of comments!
Last vote 7 hours and 52 minutes ago.
Is the voting for this one slower than normal?
Yaaay! I think it's the first favourite one I got mid-challenge!

I just got the strangest comment. All it said was 2. So I guess he thought my photo was worth a 2 vote. Then I went and looked at his profile his voting stats are at 0. So either he is mixed up on how to vote or he would rather just say what he is voting rather that actually vote. Either way I'm glad just said my photo was a 2 rather than giving me a 2. |

Got the same one, but 6 rather than 2.
Meh. A comment's a comment.

Might get scrubbed if you're lucky.

why do people feel the need to comment only with the score they gave? if you are giving a 10 or a one, OK, but whats the need to leave "5"? |

This person is a registered user, not a member, so he/she cannot vote in this challenge anyway unless he/she becomes a paid member, so it doesn't matter. That being said I got a "5" from him/her (of course in form of a comment that is). I do agree however that it is strange to leave a comment that says nothing but their vote.

Mines says "9." I hope it doesn't get scrubbed. Actually, I don't care.

i had the driveby number voter too and he left me a "6".
i looked at his/her profile and that person has 1 vote and some lucky person got an 8. unfortunately if he doesn't vote any more, that vote will be purged.
still hanging above 6 but people are generally grumpy today. |

If your talking about N_AMRO who left me a nice 4 comment. They signed up today and seem to have made 75 comments. So i am guessing they just put in a bunch of comment votes.

must have been DQd | Pity :( Such an incredibly beautiful image. And it had [DELETED] that I love. I have a lot of them stuck all over my computer gear, window frames etc.
PS Maybe DQ rules for Advanced Editing should be reviewed and a more objective approach developed with clearly defined factors, their weights and decision making process with voting by majority? It seems to cause a lot unnecessary grievance to outstanding works of art where some small technicality negates their overall masterly value!

Just because something was DQed that you liked certainly does not mean that the entire validation process should be revised. There is a 99.5% chance that an actual rule was broken and it therefore deserved a DQ.
Sigh, I am just frustrated that small things seemingly justify accusing entire systems of things. Something was DQed? Must be a bad validation process. Don't like the score you are getting? Must be a bad voting process. And on and on.
On another note, DQ or not, individual images still should not be mentioned when the challenge is still in voting.

Fiora's definitely right. We shouldn't be discussing an image in a current challenge.
She's also right: the validation process is a pretty good one. I do think there should be more upfront information: a thread of previous DQs or the equivalent. Those of us who have been here have seen the discussions and have a feel for what can and can't be done because of those discussions. Newcomers don't have that experience. I wish it was easier to find that info.
Fiora's definitely not right about something else, though. If I don't like the score I'm getting, there is definitely something wrong with the voting process. :P

Heh.
But we always discuss individual entries in these threads. By copying and pasting our results and complaining (justifiably!) we discuss our individual entries :)

But we don't identify those entries -- just those scores.
Ok, we shouldn't identify and then discuss individual entries in this thread. :P

That'd sure make these scoring threads very mundane... in fact it might relinquish the need for these altogether.
I think, in that case, the most progressive avenue towards progression by far would be to stop the challenges altogether. Am I wrong?

Yes, or just make everyone give a 10 score and we all get blue ribbons. Then everyone is happy.:P Funny how some people think that is a solution in life too. |

It is amazing that competition is frowned on for kids, in so many instances. Everyone gets a trophy. Everyone wins. Healthy competition is good. Kids (and me) should definitely get praise for trying. But there should certainly be winners and losers. It prepares you for life.
Well... kind of prepares you. :)

You've lost me (but that's ok.)
Most of the score threads don't identify individual photos. They just talk about anonymous scores...
Even though it's obvious that a seagull entry is most likely mine, you probably shouldn't say "wendy's seagull photo really stinks this time."
(Ummm... there's no seagull entry in here, is there? I didn't mean to accidentally pick on someone's seagull!!)
