i need to use paintshop pro to edit some pictures for a procedure we developed at work to dimension steel plates from photos. Paintshop has the ability to remove perspective of photos based on a 4 point target using the "perspective correction tool".
i haven't seen this ability in any other software. If anyone is familiar with paintshop pro x2 or x3 and photoshop, can anyone confirm if there is way to do this or if there is a similar tool in photoshop? i know photoshop can remove perspective but not the way paintshop does it.
the problem is i have to buy the software, which is fine, its only $50, but if i can get photoshop out of it I'd rather do that instead. |

| Both Paintshop Pro X3 and Photoshop can do this. Additionally Photoshop can correct for lens distortion more easily as well. CS5 contains lens and camera profiles to allow you to correct lens distortion much easier than with Paintshop. I have both. Photoshop has a steeper learning curve, but is capable of doing just about anything that you can think of, to an image. Paintshop could be considered a sub-set of Photoshop. At least from what I have seen. |

You can actually get Paint Shop Pro X for free it was given away as a promo by Lexar, i grabbed it when i saw it in a magazine article. It will bug you a little about upgrading when u first start it but when your done or tired of it it will uninstall cleanly.
Corel Paint Shop Pro X Free from Lexar
A quick google will turn up more places to get it.
Its been awhile since i ran it as i bought X2 but i believe it has the perspective tool in the older version too.

Yes, PSP X has the same 4-point perspective tool.
