I am looking to buy a flash for me mark ii, any suggestions for which one I should buy?
Looking to use it as a fill flash and perhaps a bit more.

You've got a 1D MkII - that's so unfair ('cause I haven't got one :D). You probably only need a 440EX as the camera would have all the fancy flash control on-board (FEC etc). This is a great basic flash and used with a Stofen Omnibounce gives great results.
If you were looking at some more fancy flash work I would suggest the 550EX as it can be set to master in a multi-flash setup amongst other things whereas the 440EX can only be a slave.
I am only suggesting the Canon range as I have no experience with other brands, but I'm sure Sigma or someone make equivalent flash units at a more reasonable cost.
