I have a IBM CF Type II Microdrive 1 GB card that I have been using for 1 1/2 years. It seems to me that it's getting exceptionally slow in saving my pictures. Is is just me or do CF cards have diminished speed as they are used and reformated?
Thanks!

CF cards to not degrade over time, but hard disk drives do, and the Microdrive is a hard disk drive. The typical "expected life" of a HDD for a PC is about 3 years, I would not be surprised if it is somewhat less for a miniaturized portable drive like the Microdrive, which is more prone to getting jostled.

If you insert in a card reader, you should be able to run drive disanostics on it just like an internal drive. That should tell you whether there are a lot of bad sectors cropping up. A TON of unreadable/unwritable sectors is the only reason I can think of that it would slow down noticeably.

edit:
You are formatting, apparently, so I assume that fragmentation is not the reason...
