Dallas looks to be on March 24... Registration is not yet open, seems like the venue is still TBD

You're correct. But, I guess because it's TBD location, we cannot register yet.
"Coming Soon" - whatever! I'll forget and miss it, prolly.

(Got laid off, so a little rattled...)

Bummer, it's sold out for me! (Seattle)

100 people on waiting list for Seattle. About 40 left for San Francisco. Portland just sold out last night.

As of 10 am PST Feb 7th.

Good times :)

YUP: good time in Seattle (the tour opener). Both Hobby and McNally are great, with distinctly different (even opposite, in some cases) approaches to lighting. A fun day. Learned some good stuff, enjoyed myself.

Good to hear. I'm excited for it to come here; have my fingers crossed it won't be canceled due to a heavy snowstorm (March is our snowiest month and it isn't unusual to get a few feet in 24 hours). A scant 8 more days...

First post! Just wanted to share that went to the Flash Bus Tour yesterday at San Jose, CA. Very inspiring and learned a lot of new stuff. It was fun seeing David Hobby (all manual) go at it with Joe McNally (TTL)!

Just figured I'd provide a more in depth rundown/reflection.
I attended on Tuesday. It was a good time, with both Mcnally and Hobby being pretty entertaining guys (and very nice when you corner them and talk to them 1 on 1 too). A lot of the instruction wasn't new to me, but I read Strobist all the damn time and tons of other resources, so the concepts weren't new (some of the uses for reflectors and whatnot were new though). What WAS new to me was seeing people who had been doing this for so long set up and do shots, and that was by far the most useful aspect to me. Both of them were readily available for asking questions during brief intermissions as well as during the presentation itself, and a Q&A session at the end.
Hobby did concept instruction, Mcnally did a brief explanation of TTL and then started shooting models doing various things and walking us through how to do things with 1 flash 2 flash etc etc.
Random: I was surprised at how tall (or not) Hobby was. Also, they gave out a good deal of free stuff during the day, as well. Depending upon your venue, I'd recommend getting there early if sitting closer is a concern of yours. I arrived around 10-15 minutes before doors were listed to open and by the time I got in a significant number of the seats were already taken. I caught the last seat in the front row and a lot of people had already filled the center section of the room.
