I recall someone asking about this recently. Looks to be a good article about how to read and use the histogram, with some good examples.

I use the camera's histogram all the time when shooting HDR. For the majority of my shots I just eye my exposure on the cameras LCD. However when I edit, the histogram is the first thing I look at and the first and last thing I tweak.

Both articles are nice, thanks for the lunch break reading material.

Thanks for the help...but I was being tongue in cheek :) I for one am notorious for ignoring the histogram while taking photos, only paying attention to it when post-processing.
