Has anyone else had a dead T1i after updating the firmware to 1.1.0?
I just taken some pics and decided to update the firmware from 1.0.9 to 1.1.0. I followed the instructions and didn't touch any buttons. I turned it off after it told me to. Then removed the battery for a few sec once i put the batteries in and went to turn it on. DEAD!!!! wont power up... called canon and to send it in. What in the hell could of caused that? bad Firmware update?

I saw similar complaints in the DPReview forums -- not necessarily for Canon -- but if you trust the posts, then yes, a firmware upgrade can kill your camera.

Tough luck, I hope you get your camera back in good working order.

Thanks its sent to canon. hope its a cheap easy fix. it must be a bad chip flash that caused it to die at least thats what happens to a mother board if a firmware upgrade goes bad. it just Kills the cmos.
