I thought I would share a little tool that I built using the Flickr API. It enables you to explore the images on Flickr in a more interactive way.

Normally, if you are looking for an image, you have to know the appropriate search keywords. What I have done with Discovr is to create a page that returns not only the results of your keyword search, but also return all of the other keywords associated with those images as a tag cloud so that it is easy to see which keywords appear most frequently in the image results. You can then click on any of the keywords in the cloud to add that word to your search criteria, thus refining your image search. The results of the refined image search then also include a new keyword tag cloud from the new selection of images, thus enabling you to explore the images more intuitively.

To access Discovr, visit //discovr.samchadwickphoto.com

Interesting, but I feel incomplete. When you click on the thumbnails, there is no indication of who took it, what photostream it resides in, or offer a way of contacting the author of the image.

Thanks tanguera. I've added a click-through to Flickr for that now.

I feel that way when I have eggs but no bacon at breakfast. You are not alone Johanna.

error handling! i entered two words with a comma delimiting ("one, two")

I'd test the purpose of it more but my work doesn't let me view the pictures

Fixed the error message. Try without the commas. It only accepts spaces.
