i want to start getting some of my pictures printed, the last time i got a pic printed it was a little dark and once in the past the colors were really off. I think i did a pretty good job getting the gamma calibrated but im unsure of the colors.

what is the best way to calibrate my monitor to a printing service? it seems that if i order some pics it will be a tedious trial and error loop trying to get the monitor calibrated. do most print services offer a calibration photo that i should try to match or can i dowbload one from somewhere? or is there another technique.

There is a test picture that someone can probably link you to.

It's a good idea to get this picture printed from the same place you want to get all your prints done. Get a good size printed (say 8x10). Then adjust you monitor to match the test print and you should be good to go.

This is what I do as I don't print my images at home

I'll see if I can find the test pic and link it for you.

Edited to add: OK found the page that will help you. Have linked it now. Cheers
