I've yet to seen this discussed on DPC, but would an unaltered video file count during validation, if one wanted to use a single frame for a contest entry?

I think the subject came up a couple years ago, I think the problem was the lack of EXIF attached to the image therefore not legal. |

The EXIF would be the key. If the video camera is one fo those that can capture still frames on demand, it may well record EXIF information. You could submit a sample to the SC for analysis. If you are just snipping a frame out of a video stream, then of course there will be no EXIF, and it would not be a valid original. |
