Depends on which format you are looking for.
For free ePub books google books, has a fair selection. As far as copyrighted stuff goes, sorry can't help. |

Yup, sure do...
Linky. ;-)
Site has links to free public domain images.
For copyrighted stuff, as before sorry can't help. (Though truthfully, in both cases, won't help.)

for the nook/ipad/sony readers you can go to
epub books
for kindle, simply go to amazon ebooks and look at the top 100 free books.
everything before 1923 is free, and several new books are free as teasers for a series.

For Kobo go to KoboBooks. You can search just free books.
These will work with the Kobo app on iPad, iPod, iPhone, Blackberry, Android and on you computer. Just download the appropriate app for your device.

I would be worried about copyright violations on that site as you don't know who has uploaded what.

Project Gutenberg now has some 33,000 public-domain books available for download in a variety of formats, including plain text if you want to format and print your own hard-copy.
They are another non-profit "community" effort (somewhat like Wikipedia) -- you can help publish more (old) books by joining their "distributed proofreading" project. I also just noticed they have a link to "partner sites" which they claim will provide access to 100,000 free books.
Borders Books also has a lot of free (old) books available for download |

| Maybe we should start a site called YouBooks. |
