6.22 after 50 votes and 6 comments. Still not as good as I hoped but oh well. I guess I can't be too disappointed because I captured one of my best pics for this competition. I am on my way out right now to get it printed to hang on my wall. :)

Anyone else happy or disappointed?

thunk. thunk. thunk-thunk-thunk. after a run of several respectable pictures, all in the six point somethings and in the top 30 (last four anyway) my form is well off the mark. my average score has been gently rising quite respectfully. but now, the trend must end.

june free study is 5.8 (which with the others around means bottom 10%). everyone hates my extraordinary shot (stuck at 5.1x). and now, the purple shot is hovering around 4.4! eek! my own stupid fault for taking a picture in rush just before the footy or the only purple thing i could find. it's in focus and it's purple, but that doesn't quite cut it anymore... so, my head is currently participating in a game of connecting with the desk. thunk. thunk-thunk. thunk... of course, now i'm getting a bruise that's purple, and would have been great for the challenge... thunk. and now i have to symbolise "freedom". thunkthunkthunkthunk.

Dissappointed, again. Sitting at a 4.8 :( I knew my color portrait would tank because
a. it had an animal
b. it was outside
c. the lighting was too harsh

But I really thought my Purple entry would make me feel better, it's not ;(

It's another one I took my time on, planned, shot a couple of times and this is the result. My best shots are the last minute ones.

A new challenge means a blank slate for a possible ribbon. Ahh... FREEDOM!

Theodor38- voters can be harsh when required to think. Don't say we didn't warn you!

my 5 top pictures all have just red and blue and no real purple in it. So don't regret. Tastes differ once again.

Hi Bassie!

That's pretty high. My entry, which I thought was a top caliber, is sittting at 5.7. I think you have a shot for the ribbon. Good luck.

Can you print me your entry too?

I'm happy if my photos stay above 5, which all 3 of my first submissions have. But I have a feeling my Purple is a bit too artsy for this crowd.

I never give so many 7,8,9... great work for allthe person who submit pictures in the purple challenge... and event to those who take flower picture... next time read the treads about the challenge, and all the idea exposed in the tread... trash it ! not original... even if I give a 10 for a flower picture.... anyway

I am sorry to say I feel totally different. I am not impressed with the purple challenge at all. Few good ones, but I have voted only 41 shots out of 172 above 5. Must be my lowest avg vote in a challenge.

I will check again later, maybe my view changes.

Arrggg! Scores dropping like a rock in the past hour :(

I'd like to say thank you to all who are leaving me the great marks and comments I am getting for this challenge.(and boo to those giving me the 1's, 2's, and 3's. lol) I took a copy of my pic to a photography teacher to show him and he said everything about it was amazing. So I guess the people voting low on it are just voting whether it appeals to them or not as opposed to the quality of it. To each their own I guess.

I finally finished voting in the Purple challenge. I have to say most photos are average in my opinion. There are really well executed entries but there's not a lot of them. I only have 41 entries with a vote of 6-9; 84 5's; 46 4's; and 2 3's.

Did anyone else get the feeling that there is an unusually large number of "digital art" type of entries in The Color Purple?

Yes. Seems to be more and more editing being done.
