I JUST WON a week's vacation in Sedona, AZ...

We play bingo every year at work and this year, a woman (who I barely know) won this trip and "re-gifted" it to me... on top of the trip, I get 5 paid days off of work!!! So I get to go for 8 days to Sedona AND I don't lose any pay or any sick/personal days while doing it.

I CANNOT BELIEVE how generous my co-workers are... I am a teacher and I have a couple other teachers TEACHING MY CLASSES FOR ME and not expecting anything in return.

WOW!

AND it's Christmas vacation... THREE WEEKS OFF OF WORK FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM OVERWHELMED!!!!

I have been wanting to go to AZ to take pictures...

So, now that I AM GOING on New Years Eve...

Tell me where to go, what to see, what to do!!!

Monument Valley.

Grand Canyon.

BioDome.

Southern Az in general.

Superstition Mountains.

Navajo Reservation (not always pretty, but it is a fascinating place..)

Man, really, the whole state is nice, there's just too much to list...

That's wonderful, and don't forget to take your camera, and maybe the battery and charger too.
It's always nice to hear good news about good people.

AND a backup camera :-)

I spent the Millennium new year in Sedona. It's fantastic. And the weather changes dramatically. Dress warmly, AND take t-shirts.

If you're always this grateful and appreciative I totally understand why co-workers and people are nice to you ;) It sounds like you deserve the trip. Enjoy! :)

If you make it to Phoenix on one of my days off, maybe we can go to Pioneer Village or the zoo or botanical gardens or Heard Museum.

Now, that's just awesome! You're going to love it! Couldn't happen to a nicer person, either :-) Been a LONG time since I've been there, so I'm not up to date on what to see and do, other than "Be sure to check out the red rocks!"

You are also at the right season for the Phoenix Zoo Lights. The zoo is practically next door to the Botanical Gardens, so you could shoot in the afternoon at the gardens, then do the zoo lights. You'll likely want a tripod or monopod to shoot the zoo lights, but even if you just walk thru to see the lights, you will really enjoy it.

Take layers--even if the afternoon is pleasant temp wise, at night the desert can be pretty cold, and every time I went to zoo lights, dressing for COLD weather was the right choice.
