| I have been approached by a local photographer. He goes to local sporting events and takes pictures of the games and events. He has a booth set up where parents and participants can buy prints on site, and a website where people can order them later if they wish. It's a good setup, and he's asked if I'd be interested in working for him as a photographer. What would be a reasonable amount to hope to be payed for such a thing? |

Working for him? Depending on what cut he's offering you, maybe it's worth considering setting up in competition?
Edit: I'm obviously cynical today.. ;-)
To help answer your question though.. How about asking for a certain percentage cut?

| That's a good idea (the percentage cut) but I wouldn't know what to ask for. He has a crew of about 3-4 people apart from himself. One other photographer, two people selling and he shoots as well. He has to outfit the other photographer, but I bring my own equipment. |

just ask him up front what he plans to pay you
put the ball in his court make him make the first offer
then decide if it covers the time spent doing the shots
if it dosen't ask for more (what have you got to lose because if it falls short you shouldn't do it)
try and find out what he pays the person he suplies the gear for
