| that happened to me at the bar i worked at last winter... although for not as long (2 full days). however, we also had the added amusement of the powerhouse burning down.... at least we were warm, even though we had no power for 3 days! we had a couple with us as well, and 5 employees. they wont soon forget that weekend! things like this seem to pull out the party atmosphere in even the most staid.... |

Who needs wireless internet and TV when you're trapped in a bar for 8 days?
I'd only need net access for one Facebook post. Trapped in snow drift, praying for bad weather. |

| I once took a ferry from Callais to Cork, and hit a force 9 gale coming down the Irish sea. We spent 4 days circling in the Bay of Penzance, with everyone on the boat drinking in the bar (or huddling sea sick in their cabin). The first two days were fun, after that the forced company and large intake of low priced beer brought out just a bit of social friction and more than a few fistfights. |
