Has anyone printed moo cards? I'm in the process of doing so, but after I uploaded my images, they looked bad on their webpage. It turns out they "enhance" them for best results when printing. You can turn that off, but how do I know whether they are right and wrong?
Should I trust the onscreen view, which means I would probably turn off enhancement, or assume they know what's best?
Has anyone done this--general advice?

I've bought them before and always been happy with them. I turned their enhancement off since I spent a bunch of time getting the pictures the way I wanted them using Photoshop and my calibrated monitor. You may need to try it both ways. I suspect many of their customers send them out of the camera photos and the enhancement serves them well.

I received a Christmas card from SaraR last year, and it was spectacular. I asked her where she had them done, and this was her reply: (I hope you don't mind, Sara!)
"Those cards were printed by a British company, Moo. They do have a branch in the States, and you may have seen there little mini-cards if you use Flickr; the joy of Moo is that the packs come with 25 cards and each one can be a different photo - I have found that black can be printed a little washed out, and their printing does tend to accentuate any magenta caste, but otherwise I have been very pleased."
It was a truly beautiful card!

I'd also be curious to see examples of what people did on the text side of the business card...I'm stuck there now, because I only want to put a little info.

No phone etc. Should I put a pic on both sides?

Opinions on this design? Unlike my previous business cards, these are double sided. So the question was what to do on the "text" side.
Here's what I designed on the site itself...
I obscured some info, but I guess I didn't really have to, since it's not parsable by robots. Here's my old photo business card. I could use that I guess on the text side.
For moo cards, the non-text side will have a picture. I've loaded about 45 of them. Many are vertical though, so that also makes me wonder if I should go vertical on the text side. But of course, that also means some are horizontal!
What do you think?

If both sides have the same finish I think it's OK having the small picture plus text on the back side, though realize when people "file" the card, that's the side which will be showing -- probably not the plain picture.
I think I'd stick with the horizontal back -- I don't think your idea of small picture plus text will work as well in a vertical layout.
I do like that you've made the text large enough to read. |

Thanks Paul.
I will say the Moo site is a PITA. I'm ordering a few different products and they make me upload the same pics more than once (once for each product). And half of them are giving me server errors now.
I have a coupon that expires, and I've already spent a ton of time trying to get my info up there. So I'm going to go with that and just try and get it done!

I didn't have a problem getting mine done and I am delighted with them. I didn't know you could put pictures on the back - that's quite clever! |

I am on my third batch of business cards from Moo and have also used their postcards for wedding shows. The order process has always been simple, the products are great and delivery has been efficient. They are expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for.
As per the previous post make sure you turn the auto enhancement off other wise the results will look shocking. I forgot on one order. Moo replaced free of charge
We use a different pic on each card. It's a great way of showing your work to potential clients.

Do you folks reduce your shots for uploading? I am sending print sized photos...the same ones I upload for prints. Saved me the trouble of resizing them, and best quality I assumed. But maybe that's the problem.
But they are only 4-5 MB each.
In this last batch so far, I've tried to upload about 40 shots. I've managed to get 12 up there :(

I typically use their recommended size, which for the business cards is
1039 x 697 pixels (300dpi) and haven't had a problem. |

I saved a batch and lowered the size to around 1200x1200, it's better, but still having problems. I've been watching it and now it gets stuck processing some. When I cancel that one, it moves forward.

I get my business cards from them, and turn off enhancement. Except for some really low-key images that did, in fact look too dark when printed, the non-enhanced images worked well. Even with the darker images, I would not have used them as their enhancement showed. |

Finally finished my order...things got a bit better, but never quite 100% on the uploads.
At least my coupon code worked. I'll let you know how it looks when it comes in around the 15th.
ETA: I think it took me about 3 hours of hard work spread over two days to get my order because of some site limitations, like having to upload new pictures for each product (and the upload problems). Also, sometimes it would forget that I didn't want it to enhance. I think you need to do a "Save and Finish later" occasionally to make sure all the settings are saved.
