I like them both, but I think full body would do better because of the guns and posing and all that?

I donno... maybe. Can we rewind time and try to see if I am right?

I considered putting it in the freestudy, but I really don't like to do that with something so similar that it won't be anonymous.

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference... actually it's not too late either. i know many people (like myself) post a photo then took it back and entered to a challenge... no one knew (well, most) who's photo it was.

You should try if you don't have any other better photos

I toyed with this one going for a 70s vintage look rather than really old. I ultimately decided that might not fly in the challenge, but still like the feel of the shot.

That's always my concern, putting very similar outtakes in free study. But then I recognize many entries in FS from that month's challenges... sometimes it can be annoying :).

My free study entry would have been great for this challenge but I took it 2 weeks earlier and now I'm worried that it will be marked down as a result :-/

I wouldn't worry about it, Abra.

In other news... I have a question about these outtake threads: You are not supposed to post outtakes before that particular challenge is over, yet I often see outtakes that have instead been posted to the Recent Uploads thread while the challenge is still on or just beginning. These are often loaded with comments and get a lot of views, and they're so similar to what's in a challenge it's obvious which shot belongs to whom. These aren't rookie mistakes, either, as it's often site veterans with a lot of friends.

I don't get that worked up about the competition to make a big deal about it. I only need a high enough score to not demoralize me. But it has made me wonder if that's legit or not.

Same image, different processing. I doubt the score would have been much different.

I think I probably entered the wrong one:
