Hello oh oracle of all photography wisdom. I did a forum search but didn't pull up anything: Can anyone recommend a good, high-quality online photo print service in the UK?
I'd like to get some prints done of a recent B&W picture of our son that I really like; will be going to the in-laws and such so they can frame a picture of their grandson .
I haven't had much success with my printer (I have the Canon MP630); color photos seem to come out with a definite red/orange tint and the b&w photo came out with everything looking 'washed out'. I haven't done any sort of calibration etc, so that's probably the reason - but I figure it might be easier and faster to use an online photo print service.
I don't necessarily need rush service, so if anyone can recommend an online print site for high-quality prints, I'd appreciate it,

I use Photobox and can highly recommend them, excellent quality and quick delivery.

P.S. If I introduce you I can get 20 free prints :-)

For the higher quality end of things i'd recommend Regan, based in cardiff. Not the cheapest but it's giclee on Hahnemuhle fine art paper and very nice. |

I've had some mixed success with Photobox. At least I have found B&W can be a challenge sometimes.
Point 101 did a very good job on some larger Giclee prints I did, albeit, they were colour prints, haven't tried B&W from them yet.
ETA. Not that you asked, but Point 101 Canvas prints are very very good indeed.

First, txs for the replies; I'll give Photobox, Point 101 (canvas could be really cool!) and Regan a look!
Actually, might help if people could see the shot in question. I have lousy photoshop skilz, so I suspect this could be done even better by someone that knows what they're doing, but anyway:

I will also give the nod to Photobox. I have used them for a number of years, and friends and family have ordered photos I have taken for them, too. Prints are usually good, although I have noticed an occassional tendancy to hyper-saturate orange hues; that said, Photoboxes returns policy can't be faulted, and if you are in the position of needing customer support you can deal with 'real' people and expect a speedy resolution. The wall and desk calendars are of a superb quality - excellent presents for family.
edit for over-use of 'superb'!

Not in the UK but a competent, international lab located in Berlin: whitewall.com
