Hi guys, I've been trying to submit my proof for the blue ribbon I just won in Off Center Subject. I cannot for the love of God submit the proof. It just doesn't go through. I've typed the notes 2x now and it wipes it out and doesn't go anywhere with my RAW file.
Admins, please help. |

Try submitting a general inquiry ticket and attach your original to that. |

OK, thanks, I'll try that. |

It's not working. I've tried it over and over. It just sits on that page and doesn't go anywhere. What do I do? |

How long have you waited. The RAW files from the 50D are about 20 Megabytes. When I have to submit an original it takes 5-10 minutes for the upload. Until then, it looks like nothing is happening.

Most internet services have much faster download speeds than upload. Even if you have 3-5 Mb/s coming in, your upstream speed may still be measured in Kilobits per second.

Just for the record, when submitting stuff like this it's best to type your notes in a word processor and save them; then if something goes wrong you can just paste 'em in for another attempt. That's what I do anytime I am moved to make a really long forum post, too...

No, I think Robert uses Edlin.

Microsoft Word isn't a word processor? My bad...

I've heard that some writers still prefer to use a typewriter because they "don't want their words processed". As far as Robert goes, what is the literary equivalent of Topaz?

Adding extra detail, which can add depth if used correctly, but if overused tends detract.
without Topaz:
The old drunk stumbled back to his cold apartment.
with Topaz:
The male gendered homo sapien far advanced in the years of his life, being in a temporary state in which one's physical and mental faculties are impaired by an excess of alcoholic drink, walked unsteadily back to a building containing a room which was a group of related rooms, which had a relatively low temperature, that belonged to him.

I think I've been dissed. I'm not sure. Let me think on it a bit. I'll let you know. Or do you already know? Are you sure? I was dissed once, a few months ago. I think. I'm pretty sure I was. I remember how it felt, to be dissed. I know I remember that. I can't remember why I was dissed. Or even how. But I remember how it felt. When I was dissed. So let me think about it. It won't take long.

You know Topaz is more than one filter, each equates to a certain style. I like spicify, which when properly abused looks like James Joyce sounds.
The old drunk stumbled back to his cold apartment.
Spicify!
Stately, plump Buck Mulligan came from the fumerous stink, and weezled down the lanky strouche, bumba thump bumpa thump, his old black cloak sustained behind by the gusty night till he bumped agin the door to his shivery solitude, and entering sunk into his pillow.

Yes, that's right! And Topaz Simplify can be downright Hemingwayesque :-)

A thread resurrected after a dozen years, that's how at sea I am.
I knew offering proof of a recent ribbon photo might be iffy -- after all, I had a previous ribbon disqualified for lack of proof, having bobbled the process. Still, I was going to try, BUT...I clicked on a note in lightroom to update the program and my photographs disappeared. Don't know how to restore what's been lost, or misplaced, which must be fixed before I can even make a feeble attempt to validate. So, two steps from glory, and the clock's ticking.
I'd greatly appreciate any guidance that can be offered. Please understand that as far as technology goes I'm like a penguin scaling a volcano.
Thank you. |

Did you import your files directly into LR from the camera?
If so, I'd suggest in the future you always put them in a dedicated file and then import the file(s) as needed, then you don't have to worry about this particular issue.
Did you try checking your history and/or going back to previous operations to see if you could find it from before this issue?
I'm no IT person, but when I lose something I always try to backtrack to find where I screwed up.
Hope you find it.
