what do you mean "texture filter" and what type of editing?

in basic this is not allowed:

use filters or stand-alone utilities designed to preserve image integrity (such as Neat Image, Unsharp Mask, Dust & Scratches, and color correction tools). These filters must be applied uniformly to the entire image, and must not be used in such a way that their use becomes a feature. No “effects” filters may be applied to your image, with the exception of Noise and Gaussian Blur.

but i guess it is in advanced?

To the best of my knowledge you are not allowed to add a texture or texture filter in Advanced Editing.

I would think that between these two "cannot dos" it would be illegal:

You cannot:

- use ANY editing technique to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn’t already exist in your original capture(s).

- add graphics, clip art, computer-rendered images or parts of other photographs to your entry or its border during editing (except for combining photos as allowed by the multiple capture rules above).

WOW-that's tough!! That's a real shame that you can't add textures, it seems like quite a basic thing, oh well!

Just as well the deadline was extended as would've been DQ'd with my submission!

Thank you so much for your help!

My pleasure. I actually asked the same question in regard to the vintage challenge, as it would work well with it, and was also told not to do it.
