I am trying to put a texture on a photo in ps, spent hours getting the right balance and then when I upload it on this site at 300k it's hardly visible, I have tried again and added a much stronger texture so that it will show up on this site. I am just wondering if it's down to my computer or if it's down to the compression, don't want it to look way over the top on other people's monitors...any thoughts would be very much appreciated.. |

sounds like your monitor needs to be calibrated. |

It sounds like the compression of the image that Photoshop is doing. Most likely its a texture with lots of fine details and when Photoshop compresses the file it loses all those nice fine details. |

Try reducing it in 500 pixel increments, rather than all at once. I recorded an action in Photoshop to reduce both Portrait and Landscape in 500 pixel increments to 640. That seems to really help with quality retention when posting here. |
