Ok, I know this thread was already dead but I had too much time on my hands tonight and decided to look at some of the numbers. I'll warn you now that even my eyes are glazing-over at this point but I thought a few of you may find it interesting. Read the image comments for details.

CORRECTIONS MADE! Thanks Bear and Nutzito!

According to what you are saying in the comments, you seem to have reversed the labels on red and blue, P and NP... Red is consistently voting higher, and blue is consistently voting lower, than the average, yet you have blue labeled as NP and red as P ΓΆ€” Despite that your comments say the opposite is true, that NP consistently votes higher than P?

Have I read this right, or am I missing something? Wouldn't be the first time.

R.

"The first data set shows that Average P is consistently lower (-0.1602) than the overall average and the Average NP is consistently higher (+0.1223). The 2010 subset shows the same pattern at a similar level Average P (-0.1506), and Average NP (+0.0960). "

"So, why is Average NP lower instead of higher? Unfortunately this level of data can't show a causal relationship."

Above statements seem to contradict each other...

I vote on other entries of a challenge i am in, but i only vote 1's, 2's and 3's so they arent scrubbed. if that doesn't get me the desired result, i have been known to go to the homes of the ribbon winners and throw eggs at their house.

Thanks Bear & Nutzito, It was late and I should have proof read it one more time. I told you my eyes were glazing over :-)

Once I can open my original file I'll correct this and repost.

I do not think this is about trolls or crooks, it is about honest people with a vested interest.

I will still NOT vote on challenges I participate in. As a matter of fact I will in future also not vote on a photo if I recognize the person, by image or style, as it also defeats the object of anonymity.

That said, a Self Portrait Challenge must be excluded in what I said. Voting on a recognizable self portrait is any event less unethical than participating in such a challenge using another persons photo, those mis-leaders should not be given kudos but a disgraceful disqualification.

But then, I am but one member, and as said by lreynelsg, everyone has his /her own personal rights and perceptions. I do not have to defend mine as I have nothing to feel guilty about.

i agree with what you said, but if the participants aren't voting, i think there will be a lot less voters.

Mike_311, so true! Must say I do not really value a vote without a comment. Guilty, me too. Maybe I should comment on at least 10% when I participate instead of a vote...?

85th post says...

I vote 22% at least, very rare I get to 50% and 100% is almost unheard of lately. Guess what though, no more nasty PMs about snapshots being voted low. :0

Works for me.

I don't vote on challenges I enter any more at all and I feel good about it in that no body can accuse me of voting down images for personal gain. I used to vote thinking it didn't affect my reasoning for voting but I was wrong. It does affect the way I vote when I come up to an image that's similar to mine. I feel I shouldn't even vote on it but sometimes did. That's why I don't bother any more with challenges I enter. I think it affects us all and to say it doesn't just doesn't sit well with me. Nobody is that perfect as to stay totally objective to the images they are voting on. A little bit of self preservation will slip in here and there. It's human nature.
