Exclusive Open Challenge are open to any registered user but only Members can enter Member Challenges. |

What Penny said, plus you can only enter one of the two exclusive challenges in any given week. That's what makes them exclusive— entering one excludes you from entering the other. |

and i think the answer i no, but you can not enter a photo that you have listed under your portfolio, even if it is within the challenge dates correct?BEcause then everyone would know its your photo. |

You can enter a photo that is in your profile. Most people will have not seen it, plus you can't be totally anonymous anyway. Most people have a certain style that is pretty easy to recognize once you have been here awhile.
I think most people try not to enter photo's that they have posted to their portfolio, but sometimes you post a photo somewhere then change your mind about entering it. |

Also, a common practice, is to hide the image in your portfolio for the duration of the challenge.

Portfolio is able to be browsed by anybody, while the workshop cannot be. Somebody could, hypothetically, find a workshop image of yours by putting in random photo ID's into a URL, but it would be entirely by chance.
ETA: Wasn't aware of the hide function, but you can also use the workshop.

You can hide images in your portfolio, Using the portfolio manager screen, just check the box and select 'Hide selected' from the options below. |

Hm. Didn't know that. Good to know.
Doesn't that make the workshop sorta redundant, then? Do you know if the image is viewable to somebody else if you send them the link to a hidden shot? |

Yes it is. And many of us use the workshop that way. By putting it in the workshop it can be shown just to those you want to see it. Useful if you are asking someone for feedback on a potential challenge entry.

Yeah, I know you can with the workshop. What about with an image in your portfolio that you've hidden? Like this one... can you guys see that?
Well, answered my own question because it becomes unlinkable when I hide it. So, no, you can't see it.
