Have an e-series laptop for a user in my shop, battery pins got bent and dell sent a tech on site last month to replace the system board.

user calls me today and says his wireless card hasn't worked since dell touched his laptop. take the cover off and find this:

note: the card is resting OUTSIDE the slot. ONE screw was inserted, the other was rattling loose in the housing. and the antenna wire lay disconnected across the top.

he actually had to PLACE the card ON the slot and finnagle the screw into the one slot...

dell sucks.

Haha! As sucky as any large company, I guess.

I buy laptops near the front of the curve, so I can live with them for a long time before having to upgrade. That puts the price-point around $3,500.

Once upon a time, I had a Dell Inspiron (I think that was it). It had a video problem where the mouse cursor would disappear under a horizontal band of invisibility across the centre of the screen, about 5% the hight of the screen.

I was very busy after I got it, and didn't call about the issue until a few days after the 30 warranty was up. They told me to turn on "mouse trails" to fix it, hahahaha! Basatards!

But, that's the price of buying at a lower price from high-volume bastards.

Agreed.

Wow, that is an epic fail. It is on the path between blind incompetence and sabotage.

That said, my wife has had better luck with her Dell than I have had with my Toshibas or my HP.
