Thought people might be interested in this short Hallowe'en film i made today. A bit of fun really but i think it does show that you can do some interesting video stuff with the Lumix GF1 and the 20mm f1.7 lens. First time i've tried digital video and i've definitely caught the short film bug i think. Anyway, for Hallowe'en have a look (its on Vimeo)
Matilda Fey's First Hallowe'en.
E.T.A- I should point out that i made the film in iMovie HD and increased the contrast slightly on some shots (perhaps a little too much)

Great stuff! I like the reverse ripple, and of course Matilda made a great star.
I work with video quite a lot for work but I've never tried anything creative, perhaps this will encourage me to try!
Cheers

Clive, I thoroughly enjoyed watching that. Excellent. Matilda is adorable by the way :) She will get a kick out of that when she's a bit older. |

Thanks guys. Yea, i'm definitely going to do some more creative stuff with it. I've got a lot of musician friends who tend towards the weird and avantgarde soundscape side of things and i can see some good opportunities there. Maybe some poetry or spoken word stuff (i remember seeing one of posthumous's poems turned into a short film somewhere which was great. Exciting stuff. I'm very pleased i got this little gem of a camera. It has its limitations, sure. No zoom (with the 20mm i've got) or image stablisation so a tripod is definitely needed, but i don't use zooms much anyway in photography and i like having a fixed lens to work with. The shallow DOF from the fast lens is really nice in video. Highly recommended camera and lens for anyone looking for something compact with great photo and video quality.

Nicely done! - I love the part where she pokes out from behind the tree. |
