		| | Hi everyone...
I bought an external hard drive yesterday, (Seagate Free Agent Go Flex Desk) and when i got it home, I realized it was one that is standing upright. The one I have right now can be lying down, and that's what I intended to get, but didn't realize that's not what I bought. So my question is, is it ok to lie down the hard drive? Or will that cause problems?

		| | The orientation of a hard drive should not matter. |

		| | Hi Magen, the only bad thing that could happen to lie down your hard drive is a possibility to overheat the disk inside because there is less surface in contact with the air.
But normally, hard drives resists easily to high temperatures.
Solution 1 : put your hand sometimes on your drive, if it burns then put it in the normal position (it won't burn you)
Solution 2 : put something under the disk to allow the air to cool your drive.
Solution 3 : if it smoke ... buy a new one

But no reason to have problems ... even with the heat ;)

		| | Hard drives work fine in either orientation. It's simply a design choice on the part of Seagate to make it upright. I have a Freeagent as well, and I keep it on top of my system tower.
