To get back to the original question...
The last time I was in a reationship with someone who talked about this it turned into 10 years of hell and a nasty divorce. I rank the concept of "soul mates" as sightly below Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the tooth fairy in terms of believability.

I used to believe in that. But like all the fairy tales we believed as children, they fade away as we become adults.

I do believe in compatibility and attraction, and yes, one can be compatible and attracted with more than one person. So the concept of soul mates tend to contradict this.

But I do believe that with hard work , love and understanding one can get someone who can be as close as it can ever get.
