Had the opportunity to download 64-bit versions of Nik's ColorEfexPro 3.0, Viveza 2 and SilverEfexPro. I use these as plugins with my raw processing in Apple's Aperture. Now that I've processed quite a few images, I can say there seems to be a noticeable improvement in final results. It seems like I have added range in working with details in shadows and highlights. Also, seems easier now to achieve the colors/tones in my images to match what I saw with my eyes. Also seems like processing happens much faster, which facilitates trial and error attempts and image enhancement.
I have not yet purchased Nik's HDR Efex Pro, which is also available in 64-bit. Anyone know how it matches up with Photomatix 4.0?
Anyway, two thumbs up for Nik.

I received the new HDR software a few days ago. So far so good but I have not played around enough to say for sure yet just how good. I love the presets as they give you a number of options for starting points then you can tweak including with control points. I also have Photomatix and so far think the Nik product is much better, easier interface to use and less guessing. Also, the Nik HDR software works well with single images and it even has a few presets just for that purpose. When I get time I'll try to put up some samples.
BTW - I also use the entire suite and love all their products.

| i dont know why 64 bit would add any improvement in results over a 32bit version. it would be better memory management and performance. |

I downloaded the trial, but unfortunately my machine is not the newest (2007 iMac) and so it runs really s l o w l y and I've lost patience with it (but that's my issue with the 2g RAM). That said, there are many more options than in Photomatix which I believe will be useful eg control points, smart object (photoshop), I haven't tried the Aperture version yet. There are some presets which I probably would pass on but overall it looks good. Just need to spend sometime playing.
ETA. Just did this via Aperture. All the processing was done in HDR Pro - no other adjustments made so I could use it as an example. It was a 3 image bracketed handheld capture. I used the B&W preset (under the artistic tab) and tweaked some of the settings.
Also, I wasn't aware there was a new version of Photomatix, so I tried with the latest version and found it much easier to use than the Nik (maybe because I"m already familiar with Photomatix).
This was with the B&W preset in Photomatix (with some adjustments in PS).
