I was waiting patiently for Tamron to release their new 70-300 VR in a Canon mount, but I seem to have lost my Canon 55-250 while on vacation. (Fortunately it was an inexpensive lens). I am now looking at the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG OS, and reviews say it's pretty decent, though in pixel peeping against the more expensive Canon it comes up shorter. I looked for who on DPC owns it and found a few high scoring members own what appears to be a non-stabilized version. Couldn't find a listing for the OS version on DPC, though. Maybe that's what they have and the listing is labeled wrong? Here's the equipment page.

Anyway, I can find a new Sigma for $399 or used for $300. Any opinions or feedback? Keeping in mind I have been very pleased with Canon's budget oriented 55-250.
