If I lend my camera to another member to take a picture so they can enter a challenge, and I take a picture with the same camera to enter the same challenge, is this a rules violation or not?

No. Final answer.

Thanks for the answer, Art, but are you sure? Does it specifically state somewhere in the rules that you can do this?

The closest I have found is based on who actually sets the settings in the camera, and who clicks the shutter. There is no rule that says the same camera cannot be used by two different people.

Bingo.

Don't mix up who managed the settings for each shot though. That is important.

Edit: You've already sussed that.

LOL, don't bet on that!
But the answer still stands. Perfectly legal.

In case you'd like to hear it from a Site Council member... no, there is no problem with what you described :)

In the past when I was in this situation, I used my own memory card to ensure I didnt confuse who took what shot.

There have been times when my son has used my camera. What I do to know who took the shot, is I take a picture of the ground or something plain each time we switch, so it's obvious that there was a switch.
