Are there any pits of this type in North America? I hope not. Future terrorist target?

4 Dead, 6 Missing and 120 injured. Where is the Response from the EU parliament??? Isn't this why we are member states and why we pay our member fee to help in emergancies like this??

Hope our 55 Hungarian DPC members are safe also.

My sister and brother-in-law just left for a river cruise on the Danube. Hope the sludge doesn't reach the river. :-(

Wow, i wonder how toxic that stuff is and what the long term effects of exposure will be? Surprised it's not bigger news?

Yeah, I hadn't heard of it until I saw the pictures this morning. Its sounds like this is nasty nasty stuff and it'll be worse when its dry because then it can become dust and go airborne.

Too many to even mention. This is one of the reasons that "Homeland Security" is such a joke... Thank goodness the terrorists don't tend to think of things like this, and usually stick to their belt-bomb crap.

Also, fortunately, the amount of explosives needed to damage a structure like this would be immense, probably far more than any other equivalent casualty attack..

Terrorists not required -- only corporate greed and governmental indifference ...
Coal Ash Spill, 12/22/08
Originally posted by Cited Article:

In this image, light blue slurry covers the ground to the north and east of the plant. Sediment also clogs the nearby Emory River, evident from the waterway’s relatively light blue color.

A report released by the Tennessee Valley Authority stated that the plant’s byproducts included arsenic, lead, chromium, manganese, and barium, although tests of drinking water upstream from the plant indicated that the water there was safe to drink. Estimates of the time required to clean up the spill ranged from weeks to years.
