| Often, but not always, when I use the Quick Selection tool I get the following message "Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM)." I have a duel core HP with 4 GB Ram and I've set Photoshop preferences to use 1156 mb which is the amount suggested in the preferences dialogue box (1642 Available Ram). Is there anything else I can do to avoid this annoying message while continuing to select pixels for adjustments? |

| What OS are you using (Seven, Vista, XP?) and what bitness (32 or 64?). What else do you normally have running besides Ps when you get this error? |

| Save your work and restart PS. PS hogs my memory and I run a 64bit system with 6gb of RAM. I've made it a habit to check my memory usage when working in both LR and PS. |

The 32-bit OS is part of the problem. You can have 4GB in your system, but you will only be really utilizing about 3.5 GB.
In addition to this issue, with some hardware configurations, Ps seems to leak memory, so the longer it is in use, the more bloated it becomes. I have not had this issue with 64-bit Ps.
Under your configuration, I would not want to be running Ps and Lr at the same time, at least if I were up to anything complicated in Ps. |
