So for some reason the website that I had, is still working, but it refuses to let me in to update it.
So gonna do a new one.
So should I flash or not?
what are your thoughts on flash, do you like it or do you prefer gallery's?
This should also be very easy, as I get a sweat on when faced with anything computer related (took em 3 years to pluck up the courage to update my camera software) |

Personally I say not to use flash. Main reason is many people use mobile devices to get online and many (looking at you apple) do not support flash. Oh and please no music either. May just be me but I hate opening a site with music. |

Anything is fine in moderation I think. I use a bit of flash on my site right now, and like how it has all worked out. I used to use a flash only site, and switching from all flash to just part flash has shot my web hits up pretty dramatically. Keep it clean, simple and not too flashy and you should be fine. |

I use smugmug since I didn't want to spend a lot of time or money on my first site. I kept it fairly simple. Nothing really special but it showcases the photos which i think is most important. Get others opinions as well but if you are interested you can see my site Here. |

partial flash (gallery/portfolio) is ok. All flash sites suck for many reasons frequently enumerated in these forums. |

I agree, I found that I liked my site to start off with, but then got a little paranoid about the amount of photos that flashed by. So would rather have galleries that didn't zip by. |

Both :) Seriously ..
I've remade my website, and for all the reasons mentioned here, I've designed it in both ..
I tracked where are most of the traffic are going to .. and guess what, they are going to the flash website.
One client/friend told me, visiting a photographer website, is like an eye experience, if they didn't like the way the pictures are presented, they will not like the pictures themselves as much.
Now regarding people looking through mobile devices, no serious client would surf your website from an IPhone.
Not trying to promote or anything, but feel free to visit my website, you will find the HTML not as impressive as the Flash.
Now if you decided to go Flash, you'll need to remember .. there is flash, and there is flash. There is flash that looks super professional, captures the eyes and give a good experience/impression. And there is flash that looks like Tony my neighbor's kid who took a flash course at school designed it.
best of luck,
