| I have a 1TB Lacie that I use only for storage, got for around $100 CDN. Works great. |

Preferably Gigbit Ethernet which is wired only. I doubled my transfer rates to my (slow) NAS by migrating it to my gigbit network socket and upgrading the cable to category 6 - albeit as I use it as a backup device I need as fast a transfer as I can get.

I only ever run hard drives in cooler caddies such as this to keep them nice and cool. |
