This question goes out to the Digital Rebel camera owners.

I have been putting my new Digi Rebel through its paces and everything seems to be working great. The only hitch I have found seems to be while shooting in Sports mode.

The manual that comes with the camera clearly states that :"When focus is achieved, the beeper will sound softly."

Well, my camera doesn't beep.

I have it set up so that it beeps, and it does so in all the other modes except for Sports mode. I have run some tests shots and have looked at the images and do look focussed.

Has anyone else had a similar situation?

I'm just wondering if my camera is already busted :(

Any reply would be appreciated.

Are your subjects moving? Such as a running person or a race car?

no, i have just shot fixed subjects for now and panning the camera. I think i see where you're going with this... I will try shooting a moving subject tomorrow.

just checked ... no beep in sports mode.

(never had my camera in sports mode or had the beep turned on before ... funny how different people use the same camera differently)

In sports mode, the camera automatically turn to ai servo focus, that means that the camera will keep focusing letting you to shoot at any time so the beep nevers sound, this is a good feature to shoot sports that are normally moving objects, there is nothing wrong with the camera.

Thanks guys.

Guess that means that Canon made a typo in the manual on page 41 stating that the camera beeps when focus is achieved in Sports mode.
