Here is another far out idea as to why the scores drop after a while:
When the challenge voting starts - all the people that entered (and understand the criteria / purpose of the challenge) start voting and the scores reflect accordingly as if they meet the challenge criteria... then after a few days other members log in (who did not enter) and just vote on how the picture looks without really giving a thought to the challenge description and the scores drop with some troll DNMC low scores.
(More tongue in cheek than anything... but there may be an element of truth in it?)
My score has also been on a roller coaster ride up then down the levelled out |

Before submission, I was really optimistic about my picture. To me, it is my best since I joined DPC few months ago...
Then the votes started. After 10 votes, as lot's of people on here, I was still happy as my score was far above my PB. Disappointment of my 2nd-place-DQ of last week was kind of over.
But finally, reality came back to me. I'm now struggling to get a decent score...
I guess my picture is not high-key enough... Looking at google images, I kind of guessed. But as it was in line with DPC definition of the challenge, I hoped !
Mistake !!!
Anyway, at least I tried the technique and managed to get a good one ! I'm happy !!
Folks, if you're happy with your picture, you've got your victory !

I am completely bewildered. As far as I know there was not a single thing that I did that was even remotely close to breaking the rules. |

Ok, I have a question now. I submitted proof and it said "Thank you for submitting" and then left this website.
And now (10 minutes later) it is asking me for proof again.
Should I wait? Should I try to upload again?
Now I am just worried because I am scared that maybe the message is there because it means I didn't truly submit the original or something.
Help? I have never been asked for a validation request before!
Also...When I press on the link, on the left side is says they have one original on file. Does that mean I should leave it?

I just read up on The DQ process: A Voter's Guide
Seems like the only time DPC automatically requests a verification is for the top 5 or so after the voting's done.
During the voting, I guess someone raised a DQ request on the images - for those of you with validation requests. Unless there is a random sampling DPC policy that they haven't mentioned in the guide above.
Regardless, there's a guideline for voters: Don't forget to vote as though the photo is legal!

Be careful !!! Last week I was sure to be ok and I finished with a DQ !!
This story of proof requests is strange... Maybe a troll trying to gain some places !!!
To answer Fiora's question, last time it worked fine the first time for me... I would say that it's better to submit your proof twice (I don't see any issue with that) rather than not at all !!!

Ok this is happening with me as well... I've submitted the photo twice, and when I click on it says photo recieved but there is a X and the photo is not showing. That also then says submitt photo.. (again like 3 times??)
TOUTATIS: When you submitted your origional photo did it show or have a red x where it say's photo recieved???? It's takeing 10 mins for the RAW file to go thru on my Country DSL.. Is it possible the thing is timed out before the photo gets to them?? EEEKS Not that mine is gonna even finish in the top 20 but it is my highest scoreing photo so far and I'd like to have it replace some total junk on my profile! |

Seriously, in the scheme of things, that's all that really matters. I have several of mine on canvas hanging or on easels and I love them and they did not do very well as challenge entries. |

I don't think so... I think the message just disappeared. I was so excited to get a ribbon that I did submit my proof at 6.30 in the morning, just after waking up!! So I can't exactly remember !!!
This story is a bit weird.. Maybe try to contact DPC admins explaining your problem and keep a proof of this mail... Just in case.

I was holding very steady until today. So far I've dropped 0.17. Just so odd considering how consistent the scoring was until now. |
