Due for launch in the second quarter of 2011, Canon's mirrorless is branded EIS. The first in the series - EIS 60 - is a high end mirrorless camera, not an entry level GF / NEX competitor. It will feature a 22 megapixel sensor. This is a brand new back illuminated design, 18mm x 12mm in size (approximately Micro 4/3rds sized*).
Who knows if this is real or just internet fiction (or both)..... but interesting ideas.... Either way some WA speculation to bring a smile to Monday's.... |

| It all seems to make quite a lot of sense to me. Too much sense for it to be complete fabrication I would say. |

Not a surprise. I've been expecting Canon and Nikon to be working on their own mirrorless designs. You don't think they are going to allow the smaller fish to own that market segment, do you?

| The only thing that would surprise me is if Canon (and Nikon) did not address this market segment. Whether the rumors are accurate, technically or calendar-wise, is another matter. |
