I first thought of the concept of taking a picture of only color, and to try to get viewers to realize that color is a part of everything, resulting in the beauty of earth as we know it. This whole thought is kind of far out but that happens sometimes. I knew at the time I entered my picture that there would be a lot of people that would say it was fabricated by the human hand; and it was. But the challenge clearly states that the picture was not to show human intervention. It is an assumption that the color was anything but natural substance, and there is no indication as how the colors got together for the picture to be taken. Several viewers asked how the picture was made and had the interest to ask that it be explained. Their open-mindedness is appreciated and it is very simple to do. I appreciate all of the nice comments and even those that were fairly blunt stating that it did not meet the challenge. At risk of showing an "attitude", I don't think there was a picture in the challenge that was not created by human intervention.

All that is necessary to do this type of fascinating "artwork", is simply drop a drop of food coloring (vegetable dye) into a container of water suitable to take a picture through, and you've got it. A small aquarium would do nicely. Do not stir, just let it naturally settle it will do its own thing. If you want to slow the action down you can add some salt to your water, which will allow the coloring to be nearer the same weight of the water and it will sink at a slower rate. Have fun, but be careful which challenge you enter your resulting abstract in.
