I'm planning on buying a sub £500 SLR, probably the 400d or 450d. If I could buy refurbished off eBay it would save me a lot of money and was just wondering if anyone had bought refurbished and what there experience was? Also do you recommend any Refurb sellers in the UK?
Thanks,
Adam |

| My 50D is a refurb purchased directly from Canon. Not a problem with it since I got it late last year. I also have a refrurb 55-250 IS lens, which I bought from Adorama in the US. It has also been perfect. On recent models refurbished often means it was returned and tested. Sometimes there may have been a problem that was fixed. I think the key is to buy from a reputable seller that will do you right if there are problems. |

" Also do you recommend any Refurb sellers in the UK? "
You mean apart from the one I recommended to you in the last thread ?
No not really. However I have bought a number of items from that one and they have all been very good - it is tied in with Canon directly. |

| I didn't mean to sound rude asking for more - I've had a look at the seller you referred and I'll definitely be checking back to see if there is the lens I want, I just would like a few different refurb sellers to compare. |

no problem.
If you do buy off the Canon Outlet site it's worth monitoring it for a few days to see what prices the items actually go for. Like any bidding site they can often stay very low until the last minute (literally) then leap up. If you put a few of them on 'Watch Item' status then you can see what they eventually sold for and get a feel for where the current prices are.
Also refer to someone like link for current shop prices.
There are too many people that go crazy bidding and spend way more than they would in a shop. These tend to run around 20% cheaper but to be honest I havent really monitored them for a while now. |
