I found some older Minolta 2 2800 AFs and an 1800 af for $25 on craigslist today. I went ahead and ordered this today to use the flashes. I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with this hot shoe adapter and if it's safe to use with my camera? I saw some other forums on other sites talking about high voltage flashes damaging camera's and I don't have the money to replace my A230 if something happens to it.
Edit-
I found some that say they have voltage protection but this one doesn't say. I'll be too scared to use it.

That item on E-bay isn't what you'd want to protect your camera from voltage. You'd need one of these Wein Safe-Sync
However, upon consulting this list of trigger voltages, it has been found to be safe for Canon/Nikon bodies. Nikon can sustain higher trigger voltages than Canon, and Fuji can sustain higher than Nikon typically. I'm not sure where along this continuum Sony bodies do, unfortunately. |
