I am fixing to take a day trip this Sunday to New York City and will be staying until after dark. What street/what location on the New Jersey is the best place to capture the skyline of NY? I can't wait to finally have my "own" shot of the city. Thank you! |

Weehawken NJ is the place to shoot from. From midtown, you can take the NY Waterway Ferry (39th & 12th Ave.) to Port Imperial and shoot from water level, or you can take the bus from Port Authority (42nd & 8th Ave) and shoot from the park above. Or do both but start on the hill (cliff) first and then go down to the water - taking the bus there and ferry back. Both trips are less than 10 mins. |

Liberty State Park is nice, with a mile (or so) -long walk right by the bay. You can see downtown Manhattan, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty from there. Not sure how late it's open, but I think they have a website.
ETA: It's in Newark, I believe Jersey City.
ETA2: The big square-y thing to the North of the star is the North end of Liberty State Park... good place to shoot from.
