Just got an e-mail from Adobe offering a $299 upgrade price if you are a registered owner of Elements. This is like $300 less than the old upgrade price. Looks like the deal is good from now until September 13th.

was there a link or code to get the offer, or is it just an automatic thing at their site? I have an older elements on my mac, would do this if it qualifies

Thanks!

You mean CS5, right? And I'm assuming it's CS5 regular, not Extended.

What if I buy Elements and register it soon? Do I still get the super price, or is this just for current owners/current registered owners?

Yes, it is CS5 (I'll ask SC to correct). And it is the regular version and not extended. The fine print in the e-mail says:

The US$299 price offer for Adobe Photoshop CS5 standard software is available only to licensed users of Photoshop Elements Windows 6.0, 7.0, and 8.0; Photoshop Elements Mac 4.0, 6.0, and 8.0; and Adobe Photoshop Elements & Adobe Premiere® Elements bundle who purchase the full version of Photoshop CS5 standard directly from Adobe. The US$299 promotional price is redeemable only from the Adobe.com store or when you call customer service. When purchasing from the Adobe.com store, you must enter directly from your e-mail in order for the discount to be reflected. Offer begins August 16, 2010, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on September 13, 2010. Limit one copy of Adobe Photoshop CS5 standard per customer.

With that said I went directly to their site without using the link and it offered me the 299 price.

COOL!! I have Elements 4 for mac, cost about 70-80 bucks. Turns out to be a great investment, and will snag CS5 :-) Does the regular version have the Content Aware feature, and/or the Puppet thing? Doubt I would use the puppet thing, but the content aware thing would be nice.

The e-mial also said this:

As an Adobe® Photoshop® Elements software user, you know how to bring out the best in your photos. Now, elevate your creative options and perform some serious photo magic with the industry-standard editing tool the professionals use — new Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Remove anything from your photo and watch in amazement as new Content-Aware Fill magically fills in the space left behind.
Fine-tune specific areas within an image in less time, even when selecting the trickiest photo elements — like hair.
Quickly create photo-realistic or wildly surreal high dynamic range (HDR) images that preserve the full range of light in a scene.
Buy now for just US$299 and save US$400 off the standard price — exclusively for Photoshop Elements owners.

Very interesting.

Any idea if this includes OEM Elements? I got a copy of it with my graphics pad and never got around to installing it.

I would be really glad to go for this since they buggered up my chance to get the education version.

I got the same offer and it's very tempting. Unfortunately I don't have a machine with the guts to run it right now. I'm tempted to buy it now and put it on the shelf until I can upgrade the machine. Maybe I'll just put it on my work pc :-)

Can you post the direct link where this is offered? When I go direct to adobe.com and select upgrade from mac elements option, it list $599, not the lower price...

Link points to a discount if bought with lightroom if I'm reading it right.

But it still shows $599 instead of $299. Oh well.

Yes--this still puts a 599 price in the cart. There is a place for the promotion code--does that get the 299 price? The liked page shows a 299 price for upgrade, but selecting an upgrade does not produce that price.

The link shows $299 for me.

You get a discount on LR if you order it at the same time but the discount is not tied to the ordering of LR.

What I see is the $299 price in the left margin, but adding it to cart still shows a $599 price in the cart. Are you also seeing $299 for CS5 if you add it to the cart?

Never mind--fifth time starting over from the link, and the 299 price showed up in my cart.

Yes. Even as far as the CC entry screen. Total 313.xx with tax.

What is really strange is the Full Version is $299, and an upgrade is $599 (when I use the upgrade from Photoshop Elements for Mac--it posts a 599 price). So I think I just order the full version for $299, no dependence on upgrade stuff....?

It shows 169 for the upgrade for me. However, there is no reference to Elements being required to get the 299 price for the full version.

Just so you're aware, there is no way to use an upgrade version of CS on an Elements install as far as I know. You need the full version.

Man--this is a real PITA: I get the $299 price in the shopping cart, click Checkout, and it changes the price to $699. Would someone else mind just going thru those steps alone (without actually purchasing) just to see if the $299 price stays for you?

Are you trying to apply a promotion code? If I try that it jumps to 699. However, if I don't it stays as 299 on the review order page and provides a place order button.

This is a truly erratic site: I repeated the process and the price kept changing to 699 as soon as I hit "checkout" (no coupon code). So, I went ahead and hit the next step, thinking it might re-apply the discount, and then it asks me to create an account. I try, it does nothing. Just sits there. So I start over, this time to create an account first, before I order. I fill out all the fields, it says my username selection is already taken, so I redo that. It then says that the email I used (in the first attempt) is now invalid as "it is already in use" so I give it another email address. Account created. Whew. Click to order CS5--only 699 option. So, I start OVER again with the link below, and (fingers crossed) I now have a cart, shipping/address at the right price, ready for payment: fingers crossed.

All in all, a very poor process. I thought ordering an iphone 4 was hard--adobe takes the title for most bogus process.

The upgrade thing didn't seem to work at all online, but just ordering the Full version eventually SEEMED to work without any elements reference at all--got the $299 price. Will see, I suppose, when the discs arrive....
