Hello,

I just found out that there is an open entry art exhibit in town but have to get my entries in soon. I don't really have time to take new shots so picked three from my dpc prints portfolio and need to know if they are good choices or not for an exhibit. Can enter two, but may only be able to have one used, so have to narrow it down to two, and pick first choice to exhibit. Do you think any of these three would be good? Two have borders to fit aspect ratios, so I would need to leave the borders there (could change color, etc.) Also, the ladybug (which you may have seen before) is a panoramic - any thoughts on if panoramics are well received at shows? One more question (promise!) - for showing, would it be better to go with 8x10 at 300 dpi or 16x20 at 150 dpi? Same with panoramic - 6x12 or 12 x 24? All thoughts and critiques truly appreciated!!!!!

thanks in advance for responses!!

Lovely shots, all three. One thing though, I believe the name of the flower in the panoramic is spelled Lupin. You probably want to check that and correct if necessary before printing for the art exhibit.

As far as resolution goes, 300 dpi is better than 150 dpi. Whether your images would look ok at 150 dpi depends on the amount of detail and grain and probably a lot of other things.

Good luck.

Thanks - I will check on the spelling:)

My personal preference is for the last two; I don't like the text on the left of the first, although the photo is nice.

In terms of size, I personally think "bigger is better". There is a lot more impact from a 16x20 print than an 8x10 print. And for the typical "walk by" viewing that most people will be doing, the interpolation that is done on a 150dpi print is probably quite adequate IMHO. The trade-off is considering whether somebody is more likely to buy a a smaller, less-expensive print because they don't have space/money for the larger one...

Clematis is lovely - but the spot of green at the bottom is a touch distracting.

I like the 1st and 3rd and like Eddy for me there is something just not right with the text on the 1st. It's like the border is crowding the flower to make room for the text. Maybe move the text left (have it centered) and shave the inside border a bit.

All three are really, really nice. The Clematis is lovely; the ladybug shot a 'crowd pleaser' and as others have said, the iris, while a beautiful image, seems a tad crowded in the setting. If you go with the ladybug, I'd suggest deleting the word "flower" in the title. Ladybug and Lupine - short, sweet and alliterative. (It is lupine, btw.)

Hello again!

I gave the siberian iris photo another shot - changed it to 8x12 and I tried to make it similiar to the ladybug picture thinking they may look good together (although I realized they probably don't go together because of the sizes 8x12 vs. 6x12)

What do you think? Is this better? or should I just forget the iris shot and go with the other two?

Thanks!!!

quick question - I went on dpc prints to order prints of both photos but I do not see 6x12 and 12x24 as an option under "order my prints" on the one I previously uploaded for sale - do I have to order it from "my storefront"?

thanks.
