I went to the secondhand camera center here in Chiba and exchanged my Contax TVS digital for a Lens (some may say 'silly boy') I think its a great lens and compliments my 70-300mm, it is -:
Nikon Nikkor D series 28-105 1:3.5-4.5D Macro from 50mm to 105mm I took some shots with it today and will post them at my fotopages site if you want to go see them (the first 2 are using the 70-300).
I feel I have a decent set of tools now and no excuse now I have to put up a good picture for the next open challenge (membership looming) 'Extraordinary'

Did you get the kit lens (18-70mm)? Now that is a great wide angle lens!
The 28mm ends up being (effectively) a 42mm with thte D70.

unfortunetly i could not afford the camera+lens kit so i got the body only and then afterwards i got a 10% cash back from the shop and bought the 70-300mm (the kit lens is not sold seperately or they never had one.
after 2 days using the camera I love it so much i decided to trade in my trusty 5.0MP Contax TVSD for the new lens. I will one day, should i find one, buy the original lens with the kit, until then I'm very happy with this one. Thanx for the info about the change in focal lengh, I never knew about that at all.

I picked up my D70 Kit on this Tuesday just gone. I opted for the 18mm-70mm kit to give me a nice "28mm-105mm" lens.
I've only had a small chance to try my new kit out, so I have not yet been able to appreciate what it can do. |

the 18-70 is a great lense indeed. very fast and pretty sharp. i think you're all set now, you have a good wide angle and a good zoom. anything after that is more for specialized needs :) you got all the ranges covered for "all-purpose" i guess :)
